A Message From The President

Greetings Florida General Baptist Convention, Inc. (FGBCI),

I would like to take this opportunity to address the body of this great convention post Hurricane Irma. As many of us in this great State of Florida have experienced the force of Mother Nature, we are thanking God for His grace and mercy in allowing us another chance to witness His love concerning us. As your President and leader, I am deeply concerned about your welfare, and for the past few days, I have telephonically contacted many pastors of this convention in an assessment for the needs of the members. As I began this assessment, it has been determined that many will require assistance in some form or another, and it is my goal to provide assistance as needed.

However, there is a great need for our brothers and sisters in the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI). As reported, St Thomas of the USVI has been decimated, and other USVI, to include Barbuda, Antigua, St Maarten, and the surrounding islands have experienced utter devastation.

Our communication efforts with FGBCI members has been limited as the phone lines are down, as social media has been spotty, therefore, we are still determining on how we may assist our brothers and sisters of these Caribbean islands. In the coming days, I will continue to consult with the leadership, and advise on further needs of assessment as we go forth to necessitate their needs.

FGBCI is a great convention, and as we have heard the clarion call to assist our brothers and sisters in Houston, Texas post Hurricane Harvey, we will stand strong in the faith, fortified to answer as we heed the clarion call for our brothers and sisters in Florida, and the USVI. Your contributions in this effort will be greatly appreciated.

As we navigate through these tumultuous seas of life, we must never forget that we are called to serve one another, as we have found a need to fulfill, we will do so with prayer, determination, sacrifice, preparation and action. Please send all contributions to the FGBCI Headquarters P.O.Box 11076, Daytona Beach, Fl. 32120

Thanking you in advance for your love and support as we serve Him.

Your brother in Christ,

Rev Dr. James B. Sampson, President
